Recently, there has been a lot of buzz around the announcements made by ManyVids and their CEO/Founder, Bella French. The adult content NSFW platform announced that it intended to work more on moving adult NSFW content creators to being SFW content creators, if they wish to make the move.
Obviously, everyone should have the option to move on from NSFW content whenever and however they choose. I fully support anyone who decides to make the switch, and I wish them every success.
But a platform that's specifically made for NSFW content and a Founder who made her fortune from NSFW content and content creators, turning around and announcing it wants to see the end of new NSFW content creators and "elevate" all NSFW content creators to becoming SFW content creators...I don't love that.
I especially don't love that they will use the money that my labour makes them to achieve their goals.
And for now, it's a voluntary, "if you want to switch, we'll help you", but my fear is that at some point, they'll want to make that switch "more appealing", most likely by finding some way to punish NSFW creators. Maybe with a lower percentage payout? Maybe by reducing traffic to the NSFW sections of the site? Maybe they'll eventually reach the stage where they just decide to kick us off but keep our money (it's happened on other sites in the past).
If they had announced they were setting up a separate site that was linked to ManyVids that was going to be purely SFW that would have been fine. A separate project that people can move to as and when they want to, great. But this slow conversion has me anxious and feeling threatened.
Especially since ManyVids is my most reliable source of online income. I'm not the type to put all of my eggs in one basket, but I do have to go where my fans will actually buy my content... But I don't want to be funding a company that will potentially turn around and kick me to the curb after they've taken my earnings to create their vision.
The age verification laws in the UK add an extra layer of complication to this conundrum. It's harder than ever to get someone to move to a new platform because that means they have to go through age verification all over again. And I don't blame people for not wanting to give their photo ID to every porn site they might want to access. But I'm going to have to try and get people to brave the switch if I want to move away from ManyVids.
There have been various things that have felt a little off about ManyVids over the last couple of years, and so I'd had a feeling I'd probably have to look at moving away from the platform eventually, but this seems like the final push for me. Not just me. I've seen plenty of NSFW creators on social media talking about moving away from ManyVids and looking at which alternative sites are the best option for their fans and them.
I have content scheduled on ManyVids until early April (2026), I think I will not be scheduling any more content and will be aiming to properly move away from ManyVids by April.
Which is a shame. At one point, I thought ManyVids was the future of clip sites and the adult industry. Now it's a source of anxiety.
