This update will take effect immediately.

After being ghosted by a client who had not only booked far later than I would usually humour but with the full knowledge that he was the only client I had booked ahead of time and I was booking a hotel specifically to be able to accept his booking, I have decided that my deposit policy needs to change.

I’ve always tried to be understanding with my deposit policy. I know that people have a lot of hesitations about paying deposits for services that are more discrete or that are being provided by people that they’ve only ever seen online. That’s part of why I always kept my deposit low. To try and foster a level of mutual trust.

However, I refuse to let my kindness be taken advantage of.

Going forward every client’s deposit will be whatever the cost of my accommodation for the day is. So if the hotel room cost me £65, then everyone’s deposit will be £65. That way I’ll never have to suffer a loss if someone does what that client did.

I had planned on leaving the restructuring of my deposit and rates until the new year, but I refuse to accept this behaviour. However, my rate structure will also be changing in the new year. I’ll share more information on that towards the end of December.

This update will likely not be welcomed news but it has become necessary.
